A native Hong Konger, I’m a software engineer by trade. I picked up photography as a hobby in 2003 when I signed up for beginning black and white at San Mateo College in California. It was a magical moment to witness my first image gradually appear on paper in the developer. Photography soon became my passion. Although I have now gone digital, my love for black-and-white imagery has never faded.
I am mainly interested in landscapes, city life, and still life objects. A friend of mine, upon looking at my photos, once told me that they reminded him of Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks. They invoke a certain kind of nostalgia. It is by no means about sadness or regret. Rather, it’s akin to recalling one’s first love, someone who was a significant part of your life.
